La Batterie haven´t given up the idea of the popsong and don´t approach it using traditional songstructures, but merging disparate, rhythmic parts and vocals sections. And somewhere in the background lurks the noise, the musical pendant of defiance. In the end it all results in a kind of spongebob-version of Sonic Youth, that sometimes also reminds of the "too pure" bands from the nineties. But it´s also the echoes of Can one quite often believes to hear in the rhythms and vocals. La Batterie assert themselves by setting up their own world between popbeauty and fragile, crumbling fragments. La batterie are anne paschvoß [drums vocals] and pascal aperdannier [guitar vocals] who recorded their first songs on a 4-track-recorder. Then they made some piano, groovebox and vocal overdubs. In februrary 2006 they recorded their first CD "something sweet and my telephone" with 12 songs between warm noise, hip hop, lo-fi and rock. You can listen to some of them below:
